June 14, 2024 - I caught up with City Attorney Cole "Son" Davis after Wednesday's Planning Board meeting.
We have a long history of butting heads. He was friendly, and he answered my questions about the City's transit priorities. He even gave me his own printouts from the agenda packet.
Here's a funny story: He and I faced off against each other in a hearing in front of Circuit Judge (retired) Michael Overstreet a few years ago.
When it was clear that his arguments weren't well taken, Cole asked, "Can I make a quick point before I lose?" Judge Overstreet said, "You can make a long point before you lose."
When I approached Cole the other day, I said, "I've got a quick question for you." He replied, "Well I can promise a quick answer."
I grinned and said, "Haven't we been through this before?" He chuckled, but I'm not sure he got the reference.
As I say, I'm not an attorney. I just play one in real life.
June 14, 2024 - A glimpse of my legal defense against the bogus defamation lawsuit filed by former PCB Commissioner Hector Solis back in 2018.
I'm not attorney but I play one in real life.
Like when I defeated attorneys Michael Dickey and DC Matthews and Cole Davis who lied to the Fourteenth Circuit judges about me and whose civil lawfare designed to shut me up crumbled under the truth.
Remember, the extent to which there's public corruption is the extent to which there's a lack of journalism.
It's part of the American journalistic tradition to scrutinize and even lampoon government officials who violate the public trust.
And it's the journalists' job to bust up the secret clubs and the backroom deals by snooping in the public interest.
There are various types of journalists that stand under the big umbrella of journalism: Reporters, Anchors, Investigative, Analysts, Commentators, Satirists, Feature, Sports, Lifestyle, and even Cartoonists.
June 13, 2024 - Last night’s PCB City Council meeting was another contentious stand-off on many fronts for new Mayor Stuart Tettemer.
June 13, 2024 - This is the biggest and most important election in August: State Attorney for the 14th Judicial Circuit.
That's the top prosecutor in these six counties:
Bay County
Calhoun County
Gulf County
Holmes County
Jackson County
Washington County
Eric Garmon for State Attorney is a U.S. Marine who has served as a law-enforcement officer and a defense attorney.
He was one of the police officers who responded to the Bay County School Board shooting on Dec. 14, 2010. Garmon has boots-on-the-ground experience.
He's serious about protecting our Constitutional rights and keeping real criminals behind bars.
Spread the word!!
June 12, 2024 - Mark Sheldon's Kickoff Jam cancelation and possible TDC Sunshine Law violation.
The Tourist Development Council (TDC) hasn't posted its meeting minutes since February. And the official meetings are only being noticed by email.
Did you receive an email notice?
Is the public receiving reasonable notice of the TDC meetings? Reasonable notice is required by law.
