9-7-2024 - Top Prosecutor Larry Basford crosses the line with statements about Hoot Crawford. He makes several statements during campaign debates that are off limits, especially during an open case.
8-5-2024 - Judge Kelvin C. Wells allowed Sheriff Tommy Ford and State Attorney Larry Basford to violate the rights of a teenage victim by arresting her attorney and interrogating her in a room all alone. Over and over and over.
At trial, Judge Wells instructed the jury to convict Hoot Crawford as long as they believed he heard the DCF agent announce that she was taking the girl into State custody immediately.
Then the judge denied Crawford’s absolute defense: The State NEVER had lawful custody of the teenager. Her parents did, and they were all with her at the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center.
The jury wasn’t allowed to hear about any of that.
Top elected prosecutor Basford authorized the arrest of Crawford, who was going to run against him for State Attorney. Then Basford prosecuted his political rival.
A post-conviction investigation revealed that a jury member made a severe material false statement during jury selection. The judge had to grant Crawford’s motion to interview the juror about it, but SA Basford argued that it was an acceptable lie.
SA Basford made a motion not to question the juror, and Judge Wells granted it. So last week Crawford was sentenced to three years probation.
This outrageous train of abuses against the teenage girl and her lawyer is being appealed by Appellate Attorney Michael Ufferman.
It sure looks as though the Sheriff, the Prosecutor, and the Judge devised a scheme, and conspired to commit honest services fraud and interfere with this election.
Not to mention all the constitutional rights on which they trampled with sadistic glee and vigor.
Where the hell are all the good people at?
